Community Profile
  •

To ensure that our funds are making the greatest impact, the Lubbock Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure works with local community leaders to conduct a comprehensive community needs assessment (also called a Community Profile) every two years. It is used initially to identify the gaps between services that are currently offered and services that are needed.  The Community Profile becomes the basis for our community grant application, grant review process and funding priorities.

The Community Profile looks specifically at breast health and breast cancer demographics, mortality and incidence rates, programs and the community beliefs of the Lubbock Affiliate's service area. The report took approximately eight months to complete.

The Community Profile is a priority for the Lubbock Affiliate becasue our ability to serve our community depends on our ability to "know" our community.

    Responsive

An Affiliate's Community Profile identifies specific ways Komen can be responsive to the needs of its service area and provide for those touched by breast cancer.

    Collaborative

An Affiliate's Community Profile helps to identify strategic partners in the local fight against breat cancer. Partners include local grant recipients, donors, volunteer, survivors and other community agencies.
