Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Susan G. Komen Lubbock Area.

If survivors are our heart and soul, volunteers are our hands and feet. We simply could not fulfill our mission without you. Volunteers help us serve survivors and fighters, hold annual events, engage with the community, educate the public, and operate efficiently behind the scenes.

Volunteer Spotlight: Julie Doss, Race Chair
Julie Doss for webWhen Julie Doss decides to do something, she hits the ground running.

Last year, after she agreed to chair the Komen Lubbock Area Race for the Cure Teams Committee, she decided to volunteer in our office for two months—just because of her passion to help. This year, she is chairing the entire Race for the Cure.

Through her philanthropic efforts, Julie is able to fulfill her life’s purpose.

“By giving time, talent, and treasure to nonprofits, I’m able to make a positive impact on my community in a far greater way that I could ever do on my own,” said Julie.

Over the past 15 years, the Texas Tech Senior Director of Alumni Relations has volunteered with various Lubbock nonprofit organizations. She also has held executive positions at YWCA of Lubbock, Delta Delta Delta, and Junior League of Lubbock.

“I think individuals who choose to serve through nonprofits have a special heart for improving lives of individuals in our community,” said Julie. “Being around these people is so invigorating and uplifting.”

The Komen staff believes it is people like Julie that continue to help achieve a breast cancer free environment. We thank you, Julie Doss!
